Now that the holidays are over, can we start thinking about summer again?
If you were to ask what our favorite summer month is in Sunriver – hands down it would be July! The weather is beautiful, the days are long and every day is filled with sunshine. It’s the perfect time of year to have a wedding. If you are planning a summer wedding and needing some inspiration, here are the Top 10 must haves from last year.
Ceremony with a View
Summers in Central Oregon are beautiful and a great time of year for outdoor ceremonies. Look for venues that offer beautiful views, like our John Gray Amphitheater with forest views and plenty of room for guest seating
A floral wedding arch makes for the romantic backdrop and are easy to build. We especially love the ones with gorgeous, natural greenery and flowing chiffon.
Use Shepherd Hooks
Get rid of the traditional aisle runner and replace with flowers on shepherd hooks. Not only do you eliminate tripping hazards but also add more beauty to your wedding pictures.
Cocktail Hour on the patio
Who doesn’t love a cocktail on a patio – especially when you’re waiting for the bride and groom to finish pictures. Our patio offers cool afternoon breezes with beautiful sunsets in the evening.
Space for Shade
Unfortunately, not everyone loves the sun. Make sure you offer shade or an indoor space for those trying to get out of the sun. Our patio, adjacent to the amphitheater and Benham Hall, offers a shade structure with poles perfect for hanging string lights.
Guests love to be entertained. Include lawns games such as giant Jenga, corn hole and ladder toss for those who are too shy for the dance floor. Consider an outdoor space where you can host your ceremony then convert it into the game area like our John Gray Amphitheater.
We always recommend hosting your reception indoors. It provides your guests a cool area that is out of the sun and away from bugs. Benham Hall at SHARC leads out to patio and amphitheater so you can provide an indoor space for dinner and cake cutting and outdoor spaces for cocktail hour and lawn games.
Jam Jar Florals
Mason jars have become a wedding décor staple. They are affordable, easy to buy in bulk and make for cute, simple centerpieces.
We love a delicious dessert bar whether it be full of cupcakes or a variety of sweets. The popular trend is offering a dessert bar for guests and a small wedding cake for the newlyweds to cut.
Picture Perfect Landscapes
We saved the best for last. Talk with your photographer about the picture-perfect landscapes near your ceremony. After all, it’s all about the pictures (oh yeah, and marrying the love of your life in front of family and friends!)
Happy wedding planning!
