For the safety of guests and staff, SHARC may close periodically during smoke (an OSHA regulation) and/or lightning events until conditions improve. Wildfires and lightning are common occurrences during the summer months. These things are out of our control – please do not take your frustrations out on staff.
Temporary facility closures occur when air quality levels reach 151 or above indoors or outdoors.
Conditions may change quickly, you can check the SHARC camera for current operations. Read more about health & safety at SHARC.
Here's how to protect yourself when wildfires and/or prescribed burns occur.
- Limit your exposure to smoke and avoid working or recreating outdoors
- Residents and visitors are encouraged to close windows – especially at night – to avoid smoke impacts
- When driving in smoky areas, slow down and turn on vehicle headlights
- If you have heart or lung disease, asthma, or other chronic conditions, ask your doctor about how to protect yourself from smoke
