Smoke from the Cedar Creek Fire will continue to impact communities on the east side of the fire due to wind conditions.

The fire poses no threat to Sunriver at this time, but this is a good reminder to always be prepared and have an emergency plan in place. Area residents can also sign up for Sunriver-specific emergency text alerts by texting SR Alerts to 888777. For information about being prepared in an emergency, visit www.sunriveremergencyinfo.com

To sign up for Deschutes 911 Alerts, visit www.deschutes.org/911/page/sign-deschutes-alerts For detailed information on evacuation areas go to www.deschutes.org/emergency.

Progress of the fire can be tracked at https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/8307/ and on Facebook (search Cedar Creek Fire).

The Deschutes National Forest forest closures allow more efficient firefighting operations on the fire on the eastern zone of the fire and because of increasing fire growth on the southern tip of Waldo Lake and in the Cultus Lake area. View the forest closure map.

People can go to the Deschutes National Forest’s website (www.fs.usda.gov/main/deschutes/home) to see the closure map and “Know Before You Go” information. Persons who enter closure areas may place themselves at risk from firefighting operations and may not be aware of changing fire conditions that may threaten the area.
